Practising butterfly swimming

Niklas is doing his most favourite thing, bathing.
Today, he turned over from his stomach to his back for the 4th time, so now AJ (who saw it for the first time) is also convinced that it is not just luck. Clever little boy.
Now Niklas is 3740 grams (yes, our scales is that exact...) and he is either 50 or 51 cm, depending on how much you stretch his legs.

The Lookalike, Part II

We came across a Disney product in the shop yesterday with a young Mickey Mouse on the label, and we remembered a picture of cousin Sebastian from the kitchen in Bestumveien.

Happy Maminka and non-crying child

LFC mascot

Niklas was dressed up for his first of many Champions League finals, but unfortunately it didn't help...

And this is how he looked when Milan scored the second goal:

The "intended" birthday

Today is a kind of special day for us. May 18 was the day that Niklas was supposed to be born. Instead it is his 6 weeks birthday. It is strange to think that those six weeks with all the wonderful times (and a lot of screaming during the last two weeks) we have had with Niklas were not supposed to have happened. They have been the most amazing bonus.

Of course all positive things have a Czech [read: nego] side. Lucie was planning to rest and read the last two Harry Potter books during these weeks of not working. Instead she has been woken up in the middle of the night just to change diapers, stay awake for an hour, and then go back to sleep for a few hours untill it starts again. But as they (and now we) say, it is worth every minute!

First bath with Pappa

AJ finally dared to give the little dude a bath! And they both thought it was great. Niklas really loves to take a bath and he is so nice and quiet when he is relaxing in the nice warm water.

More visitors from Bystricka/Vsetin

Rosta and Klarka came to Prague today to pick up Maruska at the airport and they all took the time to drop by in Vrsovice on the way home to say hi to Nik.

Klara also took the time to test the quality of our chocolate. 70% chocolate was probably a bit too bitter, so it was not as good as it might look on this picture.

Strejda Zbynek was also in Prague today and had dinner with us before taking Jarda with him back to Moravia. No picture unfortunately.

Dedacek and Babicka visiting from Vsetin

I has been a beautiful summer weekend in Prague and we have had Niklas grandparents from Vsetin visiting. Niklas has been showing himself from his best and worst (e.g. loudest) sides to make sure that Dedacek and Babicka will get to know him properly.

Great news from Norway

Dag Sondre called us today afternoon with the wonderful news that Jonathan's heart surgery was succesful, and he is now ready to start a normal life! Everything went according to plan and there were no complications. We are so relieved and so happy!

We can't wait to see them all down here in July.

The lookalike

We were watching the animation film The Ant Bully with Bram this weekend and couldn't help noticing this little fellow who we thought looked very much like our little one. Especially the size of the feet and the head... Judge for yourself.

Another weighing at the doctor's today, and Niklas is getting close to the 3 kg barrier. 2900 grams. We thought this was great, but the doctor told us to try to hold back a bit.

Lillebror = Jonathan!

I was writing earlier about Dag Sondre and Tina's new baby boy. It has now been deceided that his name is Jonathan!

Jonathan has unfortunately been given a tough start on his life. It has been discovered that he has a serious heart failure, called Transposition of the Great Arteries, which needs to be operated. The referred article says: "Many infants undergo a procedure in the catheterization laboratory to "buy time" and delay the surgery until they can handle it better." This operation was done Saturday and was very successful. Jonathan is currently gathering strength for the bigger operation which will take place during this week. The prognosis for the operation is good, and the doctors at the Rikshostpitalet in Oslo are among the leading experts in the field. A successful operation will allow him to live a perfectly normal life.

We are keeping our fingers crossed for the next step, and we are both thinking a lot about our dear friends and their little boy.

1 month old... and 1 year wedding anniversary

Niklas is today 1 month old and we were so focused on that that we forgot that today was also the one year anniversary of the day we officially got married. No doubt who has taken the center stage here. Tomorrow, AJ's paternity leave is over and he will go back to work, so Lucie will have her first day totally on her own. Tuesday is public holiday and AJ will be home again, and then Lucie's parents will come to visit on Friday. Jarda will stay for the weekend and Soňa will stay for two weeks.

Uncle Erik and Bram spending Saturday with us

Uncle Erik and Bram spent almost all of Saturday with us. The day was spent eating bagels, checking out AJ's cartoon collection and eating pizzas.

Visit from Teta Ladka

Ladka visiting on Friday with her son Vojta. Vojta is 4 months old and weighs 9 kilos already. He looks like he could eat Niklas for breakfast so we found it safest to take a picture of only Ladka and Niklas while Vojta was sleeping at a safe distance ;-)

Martin got a little brother today!

Wonderful news from Norway! Dag Sondre and Tina got their second son today, ten days before the due date. He is currently only known as "Lillebror" (little brother). Lillebror was born at 16.12 and was 3070 grams and 48 cm. He was born 4 weeks and 30 minutes after Niklas, but he is already bigger...

All three of us here in Prague congratulate the parents and welcome Lillebror to the world, and we look forward to introduce Niklas to the Hjort-Moritzsen Brothers.

You can send your congratulations to +47 92 66 81 25.

Liverpool beat Chelsea in the CL semi! Again!

Another fantastic football night at Anfield Road yesterday and Chelsea was once again denied a Champions League final by Liverpool. It hardly gets better than this. Here is "You'll never walk alone from before kick-off.

Check the bottom of the blog for the actual penalty shoot-out.

2610 grams

It has been some days since the last post. It is not because we are getting bored with the blogging, but we have been pretty busy. AJ is still on paternity leave and we are enjoying life at home these days. On Monday we went on another routine check-up at the doctor's. Niklas is now 2610 grams, which means that he has put on 300 grams in one week! It also seems like Sunday was when he went from being a premat baby to be a normal baby. Up til then he was sleeping most of the time and we had to wake him up to tell him it is time to eat. On Sunday, he found the volume button and now he is turning it up to 8 every time he starts feeling a bit of rumbling in his tiny stomach.
