He'll never walk alone!
Alistair (50% liverpudlian) dropped by yesterday and gave Niklas his first Liverpool strip, with top, shorts and socks, and a funny sweater with the text "I'll never crawl alone". The smallest size is still a bit big, but it will be perfect for the start of the 2007/08 season.

Test drive
Niklas had a very successful visit to the doctor today. His health is excellent and he is now weighing 2310 grams. This means that he has put on a lot of grams during the weekend contradicting his mother's concern that he has been eating too little. The doctor also told us that it is now ok to go for walks with him. First test walk with the pram was done indoors, though.

Cousin Seb in Prague
More visitors from Norway. This time it is uncle Pierre, aunt Anne Grete and cousin Sebastian. Here are some pictures of Seb. Still haven't found a good photo op of both cousins together, but it is one of the main tasks for Sunday.

Finally out of the hospital
On Friday April 20, Niklas and Lucie were released from the hospital, and Niklas tried out his car seat for the first time. He was not too happy with it in the beginning, but when he realized that he was not going to manage to wrestle himself out of it, he was quite content. The drive home went really well and it was a wonderful feeling to carry him into his new home!

2115 grams!
Today Niklas broke the 2100 gram threshold for being allowed to leave the hospital, and on Friday he will be entering the 36th week. This means that it is very likely that the little boy will move in with his mother and father this week and will probably stay there for 18 years or more. The picture above is from some days ago, and he is wearing a borrowed hat from the hospital (the only one small enough for his head at the time)

Good news on a Friday morning
I have just been informed that the hepatitis is cured and that Niklas will be released from the incubator ward today. Sometime today Lucie an Niklas will be moved to a mother and child ward, where it will be much easier for the father (and the grandparents!) to come and visit.
This is a great milestone for the little one (Niklas - not Lucie...) and we are very happy.

Niklas "smiles"!
Latest news on the hepatitis is that it was a bit of a setback yesterday, but today it was better. If the improvement continues, he will be let out of the box tomorrow or Saturday. On Saturday, Farmor and Farfar are coming all the way from Norway to visit. Originally the plan was to see Lucies pregnant stomach, but they will come a bit late for that. He-he.

Niklas in the Tanning Salon
The road ahead for little Niklas now is that he will have to stay in the incubator untill the end of the 34th week which will be on Friday, and then Lucie will be able to have him in her room untill the end of the 35th week (hospital rules) and then they will both come home! Hopefully by then, Daddy will have managed to assemble the changing table and the baby bed...

Our baby is on his way!
There has been a surprising turn of events. Lucie has been in the hospital since Wednesday with contractions. Since this was about six weeks to early, and the doctors would like him to stay safe and warm for some more time, they tried to stop the contractions. This was successful and we expected yesterday that she would be able to come home on Friday. But the little one had obviously decided that he wanted to come home with us! The water broke at around nine o'clock last night. This means that if the contractions have not started again by the same time tonight, they will start the birth.
The last update is that by nine AM today nothing has happened, so it looks like tomorrow, on Easter Eve, the new member of the Eriksen family will arrive!
The doctors have ensured us that, in spite of Lucie being pregnant in the 34th week, the situation is not regarded as dramatic.
Here is a picture of Lucie from last night.
